Emilia Romagna Culinary Biking Tour - Trip Overview
"A Cycle tour along Italy's Po Valley & Delta"

Once the bread basket of the Roman Empire this rich fertile land along the Po River is an agrarian wonderland waiting to be savored. This tour offers a flat easy biking terrain with little to no traffic and is packed with culitnary side trips.
Enjoy guided tours & tatstings of the Reggiano & Parmesan cheeses, prosciuto and balsamic vinegar and private tours that give insight into the medieval towns we stay. Our memorable hotels are situated in these medieval centers and our one farm stay offers us a beautiful pool and 9-hole homemade links golf course on the grounds.

Emilia Romagna Bicycle tour

Days 1-2: Po River Delta
From Chioggia near Venice we bike along quiet canals into the Po River Delta where we find numerous varieties of bird life and if we're lucky may even spot a pink flamingo or blue heron. Then relax by the pool or venture out with our host for 9 holes of golf on his home-made course. The next day we loop out for a boat cruise along the Delta, visit the Pomposa Abbey and tour & taste the local wine.

Days 3-4: Ferrara the "City of Bicycles"
Cruise from the delta and along the quiet Po River to Ferrara, where bikes dominate the streets. We examine a XV century palace, once residence of Counts Beccari-Freguglia, transformed into an elegant 4-star hotel in the medieval center. The next day we start with a private guided walking tour of Ferrara then have the option for a short loop or a free afternoon.

Days 5: Mantova via the Po River
We continue along the Po River through a region renowned for its risotto production and finish our day in the stunning medieval jewel Mantova. Along the way we visit a Benedictine Abbey and quaint riverside hamlets. The following day we enjoy a city tour and market day. There is an option to do a loop ride.

Days 6-8: Modena, Cheeses & Balsamic Vinegar
Explore the River Secchia as we roll into Modena; renowned for its balsamic vinegar production. You enjoy a Parmesan cheese dairy tour and tasting, ride to see a prosciuto producer before we visit a traditional balsamic vinegar maker.
